Recreation Area sign

Points to a park, historic site, campground or other recreational and cultural destination.

How to recognise it

This sign is a wide rectangle in brown, used only for parks and recreation. Blue for motorist services such as fuel, food, lodging and hospitals. Brown for parks, recreation and cultural sites. Neither colour is ever used for a rule.

What the test wants you to know

Brown is the colour to remember for parks and public land. It is the least common colour on the road and the easiest mark to pick up on a colour question.

Practise it

Reading about a sign is not the same as recognising it in half a second with an examiner watching. Every state road signs test on this site shows the sign and asks you to name it, then shows four faces and asks you to pick the right one.
