About

Who makes PracticeDMV

Vikas is a London based software engineer who has spent years building driving test preparation tools, starting with a UK study site used by learners across the country. PracticeDMV brings the same approach to the United States: exact test formats, original questions with cited sources, and data obtained from official records rather than guesswork.

How the questions are written

Every question on this site is original. We never copy state handbooks, which are copyrighted, and we never reproduce real exam questions, which are secure test material. Instead, each question teaches a rule of the road as written in public law: the California Vehicle Code, the Texas Transportation Code, Florida Statutes chapter 316, the New York Vehicle and Traffic Law. The citation sits under every answer so you can check us, and we would rather you did.

How facts are verified

Question counts, pass marks, and fees on this site carry the date we last checked them against the state agency. When states change their rules, the dates tell you how fresh our numbers are. If you spot something out of date, tell us and we will fix it and re-date it.

Why it is free

Practice material for a legally required test should not sit behind a paywall. The whole bank is open, the hardest questions included, with no accounts and no email capture. The site earns its keep through ads on guide pages, never inside your practice run.
