Every Oregon test

Work through them in order.

The essentials

Start here. Five distinct sets drawn from across the whole bank, plus a marathon that keeps going until you have seen everything.

Signs, signals and right of way

The two areas that fail the most people. Work through the sign tests until every shape and color is automatic, then handle the intersection scenarios.

The rules that get you fined

Speed, alcohol, phones, seat belts and the state specific limits that carry real penalties. These questions cite the statute so you learn the rule, not just the answer.

The exam simulator

The real thing: your state's exact question count and pass mark, scored the way the licensing agency scores it.

Your missed questions

Every question you get wrong anywhere on this site saves to a review deck on your own device. It comes back after a day, then three days, then a week, and retires once you have answered it correctly three times running. Open any test above and the review button appears as soon as the deck has something in it.

Getting licensed in Oregon

What the process looks like

  • A provisional license is available at 16 or 17, and applicants need 100 hours of supervised driving experience, or 50 hours if they have taken and passed an approved driver education course.
  • For the first six months on a provisional license, drivers cannot carry a passenger under 20 who is not immediate family, and cannot drive between midnight and 5 a.m. except for work, school events, or when a licensed driver at least 25 years old is along.
  • In the second six months, no more than three passengers under 20 outside the immediate family are allowed, under the same overnight rule, and the restrictions end after one year or at age 18, whichever comes first.
  • Until they turn 18, Oregon drivers cannot operate a vehicle while using a mobile communication device, including talking on a cell phone and texting.

At a DMV office you may test again the same day, depending on office testing resource availability. Online you may test two times in a 24 hour period and four times in total, after which you must test at a DMV office.

The knowledge test is written from the Oregon Vehicle Code, ORS Chapter 811. Our questions teach those same rules and cite the section behind each answer, so what you learn holds up on test day and on the road afterwards.
