Free Nevada permit practice tests

Nevada lets you sit the written test at home online, where the clock gives you 60 minutes, or in person at a DMV office where there is no time limit at all. Either way it is the same 25 questions and the same 20 right to pass, and the result stays good for a year.

Every Nevada test

Work through them in order.

The essentials

Start here. Five distinct sets drawn from across the whole bank, plus a marathon that keeps going until you have seen everything.

Signs, signals and right of way

The two areas that fail the most people. Work through the sign tests until every shape and color is automatic, then handle the intersection scenarios.

The rules that get you fined

Speed, alcohol, phones, seat belts and the state specific limits that carry real penalties. These questions cite the statute so you learn the rule, not just the answer.

The exam simulator

The real thing: your state's exact question count and pass mark, scored the way the licensing agency scores it.

Your missed questions

Every question you get wrong anywhere on this site saves to a review deck on your own device. It comes back after a day, then three days, then a week, and retires once you have answered it correctly three times running. Open any test above and the review button appears as soon as the deck has something in it.

Getting licensed in Nevada

What the process looks like

  • Nevada's instruction permit becomes available at 15 and a half, and permit holders must be supervised by a licensed driver who is at least 21 with a full year of driving experience.
  • Teens who take a classroom or approved online driver education course need 50 hours of supervised practice including 10 at night. If no classroom course sits within 30 miles of home and the teen has no internet access, that requirement rises to 100 hours.
  • A driver license follows at 16 once the instruction permit has been held for at least six months, but for the first six months the new driver cannot carry passengers under 18 who are not immediate family.
  • A statewide curfew bars drivers under 18 from the road between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., with exceptions for travel to and from school or work, and those minor restrictions fall away at 18.

A 25 dollar testing fee is due before you take the written test, and a 10 dollar retest fee applies to every retake.

Fail and you can retake the test the next day. If you were disqualified rather than simply scoring too low, you wait 24 hours. A passing result stays valid for one year.

The knowledge test is written from the Nevada Rules of the Road, Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 484B. Our questions teach those same rules and cite the section behind each answer, so what you learn holds up on test day and on the road afterwards.
