Lodging sign
Overnight accommodation, hotel or motel, is available off the next exit.
Common near interstate interchanges outside city centers, far less common downtown where lodging is assumed to be easy to find on foot.
How to recognise it
This sign is a square in blue, used only for motorist services. Blue for motorist services such as fuel, food, lodging and hospitals. Brown for parks, recreation and cultural sites. Neither colour is ever used for a rule.
What the test wants you to know
This is one of the few blue signs that shows up in fatigue related questions. If a scenario describes a driver fighting to stay awake, the correct move on the exam is usually to take the exit this sign points to, not to push on toward the destination.
Practise it
Reading about a sign is not the same as recognising it in half a second with an examiner watching. Every state road signs test on this site shows the sign and asks you to name it, then shows four faces and asks you to pick the right one.
