Camping sign

Common on interstates through rural stretches, especially near lakes, state forests or a run of RV parks.

How to recognise it

This sign is a square in blue, used only for motorist services. Blue for motorist services such as fuel, food, lodging and hospitals. Brown for parks, recreation and cultural sites. Neither colour is ever used for a rule.

What the test wants you to know

Do not mix this up with the brown recreation area sign. Blue means a private or commercial campground sitting right off the exit, while brown means a park or public campground that may still be a long drive from the highway.

The sign people confuse it with

Camping gets mixed up with Recreation Area more than any other pairing in this category. Put them side by side and the difference is obvious, which is exactly why it is worth doing once rather than meeting them cold in the exam.

Practise it
