Utah CDL practice tests
Three of Utah's Driver License Division offices, Farmington, Logan, and Tooele, do not process CDLs at all, so an applicant who lives near one of those three has to travel to a different office or use a certified third party tester instead.
The written exams themselves are federal. Utah decides the permit rules, the fees and who runs the skills test, but the knowledge you are tested on comes from 49 CFR Part 383 and is the same in every state, which is why the 145 questions here work wherever you apply.

Commercial learner permit
Utah requires applicants to complete Entry Level Driver Training and hold the CDL learner permit for 14 days before scheduling the driving skills test, and the permit is good for 180 days.

Fees
The CDL written knowledge test costs 52 dollars and the driving skills test costs 78 dollars covering two attempts, with a 52 dollar fee to retake the driving skills test.

Where you test
The driving skills test can be taken at the Driver License Division, though the Farmington, Logan, and Tooele offices do not process CDLs, or through an approved certified third party tester who submits results to the division electronically.
