The no passing zone that began earlier is over. Passing is allowed again, but only when you can see far enough ahead to complete it safely.

Shape and background first
Federal designation R4-2 in the MUTCD, the national standard every state signs to. Placed at the far end of a no passing zone, right where the solid yellow centerline returns to a broken line.

Conventional road size: 24 x 30 in
Guidance: Place PASS WITH CARE at the end of a no-passing zone if DO NOT PASS was posted at its start.

What the test wants you to know
The mistake people make
Drivers often assume the centerline alone tells the whole story, but this sign is what officially closes out the restriction, and pavement markings can lag behind or wear away. Do not treat a faded centerline as proof that passing is legal if this sign has not appeared yet.
