Oklahoma CDL practice tests
Oklahoma's CDL process runs through Service Oklahoma, a standalone licensing agency the legislature split off from the Department of Public Safety in 2023, so applicants deal with Service Oklahoma offices and tag agencies rather than a traditional DMV or DPS counter.
The written exams themselves are federal. Oklahoma decides the permit rules, the fees and who runs the skills test, but the knowledge you are tested on comes from 49 CFR Part 383 and is the same in every state, which is why the 145 questions here work wherever you apply.

Commercial learner permit
A commercial learner permit must be held for a minimum of 14 days before the driving skills test can be taken, and the permit itself stays valid for one year.

Fees
A first-time four-year Class A CDL totals $81.50, made up of a $25 application fee and a $56.50 license fee, while the eight-year Class A option runs $138.00.

Where you test
Knowledge and vision testing happen in person at a Service Oklahoma licensing office, while the skills test can be taken at a Service Oklahoma location or through an approved third-party drive school.

Air Brakes
Fail this and an L restriction bars you from any vehicle with air brakes, which is most of them.
Combination Vehicles
Coupling, the fifth wheel, off tracking and trailer swing. Needed for Class A.
