End School Zone sign
Marks the point where the reduced school zone speed limit stops applying and the regular posted limit resumes.
Federal designation S5-2 in the MUTCD, the national standard every state signs to. Posted at the far edge of the school zone, on the opposite end from where the flashing speed limit assembly begins.
How to recognise it
This sign is a wide rectangle in fluorescent yellow green, reserved for schools, pedestrians and bicycles. The five sided pentagon is reserved for schools, and the fluorescent yellow green colour is used only for schools, pedestrians and bicycles. Speed limits here are usually enforced far more aggressively than elsewhere.
What the test wants you to know
Drivers who missed the entry sign often miss this one too and simply guess when the lower limit ends. The habit examiners want is to hold the reduced speed until you actually pass this sign, not until the school building disappears from view.
Practise it
Reading about a sign is not the same as recognising it in half a second with an examiner watching. Every state road signs test on this site shows the sign and asks you to name it, then shows four faces and asks you to pick the right one.
