Ohio motorcycle permit test
Ohio's motorcycle permit is not a short-term slip of paper. The TIPIC stays valid for a full year, but a rider who lets it lapse without finishing licensing has to restart the entire application from scratch.

Honest note: Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) does not publish the motorcycle test format anywhere we could confirm, so the 40 question count and pass mark of 30 are the best available figures rather than verified facts. The riding knowledge below is the same either way. Confirm the format with the agency before your appointment.
The rider course rule. Completing a Motorcycle Ohio Basic Course waives the on-cycle skills test for 60 days from the date of course completion, though the written knowledge test is still required Ohio BMV, Motorcycle License, checked 2026-08-28.
