Idaho motorcycle permit test
Idaho backs its state run STAR training program with its own crash statistics, telling riders in the official handbook that STAR graduates face a 79 percent lower crash risk and an 89 percent lower risk of a fatal crash than untrained riders.

Honest note: Idaho Transportation Department, Division of Motor Vehicles does not publish the motorcycle test format anywhere we could confirm, so the 25 question count and pass mark of 20 are the best available figures rather than verified facts. The riding knowledge below is the same either way. Confirm the format with the agency before your appointment.
The rider course rule. Completing a qualifying Idaho STAR or Motorcycle Safety Foundation course within 25 months of adding the endorsement waives only the motorcycle skills test, not the written knowledge test, which everyone must pass regardless of training Idaho Transportation Department, Motorcycle Rider's Handbook, checked 2026-08-28.
