The format on file, and what is confirmed
Colorado sells the same motorcycle instruction permit to any age group once the written exam is passed, then layers a full 12-month holding period on top for minors, a wait far longer than the few months most states require between a car permit and license.
Format not published by the agency
Colorado Department of Revenue, Division of Motor Vehicles does not publish the motorcycle test format anywhere we could confirm, so the 25 question count and pass mark of 20 are the best available figures rather than verified facts. The riding knowledge below is the same either way. Confirm the format with the agency before your appointment.
Does a course skip the test?
Completing a Motorcycle Operator Safety Training (MOST) course lets a rider skip both the written exam and the skills test; the rider presents the original MOST completion card at a driver license office appointment and buys the updated license with the endorsement, a step that cannot be done by mail, phone, or online.
