What the questions cover
Everything comes back to the Delaware Code Title 21, Motor Vehicles: signals and signs, right of way, speed rules, passing and lane use, parking, alcohol limits, and the licensing rules for new drivers. Multiple choice, one correct answer each.

26 of 32, not a flat 80 percent
The Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles gives the written test as 32 questions with 26 correct to pass. That is about 81 percent, which matters because it is not the round 80 percent most states use and it is not derived from a percentage at all: the threshold is a count of correct answers. Six wrong answers is the full margin, and a seventh ends the attempt whatever the rest of the paper looks like. The test is taken on a computer at Delaware DMV driver license offices, and every answer choice is drawn from the Delaware Driver's Manual, so the manual is the whole syllabus rather than a starting point.

It is worth being explicit about the gaps, because several figures other states publish are absent for Delaware. As read on 27 August 2026, the DMV written test page supports the 32 question count and the 26 correct pass mark and nothing further: no time limit for the exam, no separate charge for sitting it, no waiting period before a retake, no cap on attempts, and no separate road sign rule that has to be cleared inside the score. Delaware also lists permit and license charges on its fee schedule rather than on the written test page, so confirm the current amounts with your local DMV office before you go rather than relying on a figure quoted elsewhere.
