The Texas bank runs to 282 questions. 40 are written for Texas specifically from the Texas state statutes, 60 make up the shared national core of right of way, rules of the road and safety that every state tests, and 182 are sign recognition cards with official MUTCD sign artwork (public domain, via Wikimedia Commons). 14 of the 282 are rated hard, 8 of those from Texas's own set.
The 40 questions written for Texas.
These 40 split into 13 on rules of the road, 12 on safety and impairment, 10 on right of way and 5 on road signs, and each one names the rule it tests, so you learn the Texas statutes section rather than just the answer. The rest of the bank is the shared national core and the sign artwork every state uses. Here is what Texas asks from its own code, and where each question comes from.
