Hidden Driveway sign
A driveway or private entrance ahead is obscured by terrain, vegetation or a building, so vehicles may pull out with little warning. Cover the brake and watch the roadside.
Placed on rural highways and roads with tree lines, hedges or embankments close to the pavement where a driveway or farm entrance would otherwise be invisible until the last moment.
How to recognise it
This sign is a diamond stood on its point in yellow, the warning colour. Yellow diamonds telling you what the road is about to do. They are advisory rather than mandatory, but ignoring them is how people end up in ditches and how examiners end up failing you.
What the test wants you to know
Because this sign is not part of the core federal sign set, its wording and shape vary more than most warning signs, so questions tend to focus on the underlying behavior rather than the exact legend. Treat any hidden entrance as a spot where a vehicle could enter without you seeing it coming until the last second, and slow accordingly.
Practise it
Reading about a sign is not the same as recognising it in half a second with an examiner watching. Every state road signs test on this site shows the sign and asks you to name it, then shows four faces and asks you to pick the right one.
